Membership and Donation Terms

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Thank you for supporting Bee Sober. These terms explain how donations and the Members Only community work. If you have any questions, email us at [email protected].

1. The Sober Experiment is free

The 30 Day Sober Experiment is completely free. You never need to donate or become a member to take part.

2. One-off donations

You can make a one-off donation to support Bee Sober at any time. Donations help us keep creating resources and supporting our community. Making a donation does not give you membership of the Members Only community.

3. The Members Only community

The Members Only community is available for a monthly donation of £14.99. Membership currently includes:

  • a safe and supportive community of other sober people
  • weekly Zooms with Bee Sober ambassadors
  • a WhatsApp support group
  • access to additional resources
  • first access to events

We may change what is included from time to time. If we make a big change, we will let members know.

4. Payments

  • Payments are taken securely by Stripe. We never see your full card details.
  • Your monthly donation is taken automatically each month on the same date until you cancel.
  • If we ever need to change the monthly amount, we will tell you at least 30 days before the change, so you can decide whether to continue.

5. Cancelling your membership

You can cancel at any time by emailing [email protected]. Once you cancel, no further payments will be taken. You will keep your membership until the end of the month you have already paid for.

6. Refunds

As donations go straight towards running Bee Sober, we do not usually give refunds. If a payment was taken by mistake, or you have made an error, please email us as soon as possible and we will do our best to put it right. This does not affect your legal rights.

7. Community guidelines

Our community works because everyone looks after each other. When you take part in our groups, Zooms and events, please:

  • be kind, respectful and non-judgmental
  • keep what others share private. What is shared in the group stays in the group
  • do not give medical advice to other members
  • do not sell, advertise or promote products or services without asking us first
  • do not post anything abusive, offensive or that promotes drinking

If someone does not follow these guidelines, we may remove them from the community. If this happens, we will explain why.

8. Peer support, not professional support

Our ambassadors are volunteers and our WhatsApp group and Zooms are peer support between members. They are not medical, counselling or crisis support. If you need help with your drinking or your health, please speak to your GP. If you are in danger or need urgent help, call 999, or call Samaritans free at any time on 116 123.

9. Events

Our ambassadors organise sober social events around the country. Please look after yourself and others when you attend. Event details are shared in our Facebook communities.

10. Who can join

Membership is for adults aged 18 and over.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, and we will let members know about any important changes.

12. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
